Sinatra in the Square
Thursday, June 19th 5-7pm Stamp unveiling at 5:30pm, followed by live performances at Ryles Jazz Club Free! All you swinging cats! Join us in celebrating the musical legacy of "Ol' Blue Eyes" Frank Sinatra . On June 19, 2008, the hippest, most happening place in the world will be Inman Square, Cambridge. Enjoy an early evening of special musical performances to help celebrate "The Chairman of the Board." The fun begins with a kick-off ceremony of "Sinatra in the Square" at the Ryles Jazz Club, 212 Hampshire Street , Cambridge at 5:00 pm. The Master of Ceremonies will be Ron Della Chiesa, Radio Host of WPLM 99.1. This event is free and open to the public. Presented by the Inman Square Business Association, Ryles Jazz Club, S&S Restaurant, and the U.S. Postal Service. Inman Square is one of the hidden treasures in Cambridge, featuring unique shopping and dining experiences and will be the center of "hip" for Sinatra fans. The fun will kick off at 5:00 pm on Thursday, June 19, 2008, with a musical tribute to the "Chairman of the Board" at the Ryles Club. This community celebration includes a stamp unveiling ceremony. Many of the Inman Square stores and restaurants will be featuring Sinatra-themed menus, windows, events and surprises. Members of the community are invited to attend "Sinatra happenings" that will be taking place throughout Inman Square on Thursday, June 19, starting at 5:00 pm. Starting at 5 PM at Ryles, performances by... WANNETTA JACKSON: thrills audiences with her renditions of well known rhythm and blues and jazz. Wannetta came to Boston in 1975 to study at Berklee College of Music and since then, she has been featured at every major venue in the Boston area as well as, The Boston Globe Jazz Festival and opening for Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland and DeJohnette. To a festival audience of more than 40,000 people, Wannetta sang a tribute to Aretha Franklin and received stellar reviews. The Boston Globe said; "Wannetta Jackson's tribute to Aretha Franklin earns our respect." MICHAEL GIAMBRONE: an accomplished vocalist, and his forte is interpreting the Frank Sinatra Songbook. The Master of Ceremonies of the program will be Radio Host RON DELLA CHIESA who shares his extensive knowledge of Frank Sinatra and the Great American Song Book on two programs for WPLM Easy 99.1 FM, Strictly Sinatra & Music America, Saturday & Sunday at 7 PM - Midnight.
